GSP Releases a Video

GSP's camp has decided to release a video in defense of their breathing technique. This doesn't help matters. In the Sherk clip the cornerman doing the rubdown isn't the guy with the Vaseline, so it doesn't make any sense. They might as well have put a clip of a giraffe taking a crap because it would have had the same significance. I guess their goal is to save face and at least try to get people to think the cheating was not malicious.

I hope Penn's camp releases another video and this turns into one of those celebrity YouTube feuds.

I'm fairly certain the video is just supposed to demonstrate that the "breathing technique" wasn't bullshit used to cover up the "greasing," and that it is, in fact, a legitimate technique employed by GSP and, I guess, Sean Sherk.

The validity of the technique isn't the question. Its the vaseline he had on his hand. Touch somewhere other than the face and its against the rules.

All I see is evidence Nurse put vaseline on him in the Serra fight to.

Awful production.

BJ's vid blows it away.

I agree the lighting is all wrong.

The point wasn't that he didn't grease it was to show that it was unintentional (It's up to you to believe him or not now I guess) Anyway it does make sens and stop being a crybaby and go to logic 101.

Intentions? Thats retarded.

This shows conclusively that Penn is such a sucky baby.

Responding to it makes the story live on.

GSP needs to move on.

I think we need to move on. "grease-gate" has gotten out of hand with fans, I believe. Meanwhile, BJ and GSP are doing exactly what they must for the best of their careers. Perhaps the trash-talking is a little much, but whatever, that's an individual dilemma.
Time to stop hating on the fighters, guys. They're just representing the sport.

Even if he did have vaseline on his hands, that kind and amount of application shouldn't have any kind of effect to where it was placed, especially in the round it was done.

Not to mention GSP was easily whooping up on bj before it happened anyway. If he was losing by a little, I could understand the motivation of doing something like that but there is none.

It was applied after the 1st rd. He wasn't whooping on nothing before it was applied.

He certainly wasn't even close to losing.

If you watch the grappling in round 2 bj gets a nice and solid rubber guard, but lets it go because gsp starts throwing blows. He keeps letting go of full guard because of the same blows. The last guard where gsp is pushing with his elbows was not locked correctly at the ankles. That is where gsp shoves the ankles to the side and gets into side control and just keeps up the ground and pound.

With the new article up I just want to reiterate what I first said

"Even if he did have vaseline on his hands, that kind and amount of application shouldn't have any kind of effect to where it was placed, especially in the round it was done."

I don't argue with the rules being broken, but the people that are saying that bj penn lost because of gsp being greased up obviously weren't watching the fight.
