Couture vs Nogueira UFC 101

Randy Couture will face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 101. The bout will take place in August and Portland, Oregon could be the destination. Maybe the UFC is paying back Portland for moving UFC 91 "Couture/Lesnar" to Las Vegas.

Originally it was hoped they could headline UFC 96, however, Couture's bone spur surgery ended the discussion. Thankfully, the UFC remained patient and now they have a historic fight on their hands. It also sets the stage for the winner to face whoever comes out on top in the Mir/Lesnar unification bout.

A year ago at this time, the UFC's Heavyweight Division was a mess. It still is not the strongest, but at least it's improved.

Nog by flying arm bar

there's no way either nog or randy would earn a title shot just by beating each other man. You're way to eager.

Most likely Kongo, if he beats hardonk, or Gonzaga if he beats Carwin. It's weird though becouse none of the ranked heavyweights is carrying a great winning streak, and those who are, like Carwin or Velasquez haven't beaten anyone important yet. Maybe if Carwin totally destroys gonzaga he could get it.
Having said that, Lesnar got his in a shameful way, so anything can happen.

Kongo ain't getting a shot over Couture or Nog.

Lesnar only had to win one to get a title shot at Coutour. Kongo has already won 2 (each in the first round). A unified title fight is a long way down the road here.

They're not going to pit lesnar and mir against each other for quite a while because both title fights just happaned. Coutour and nog just lost the titles, they're not getting put to the top of the line so quicky.

A nog/coutur fight would be a great space breaker before, followed by lesnar mir for unification. That gives kongo almost a year to easily improve his record even more to face the winner. He's already in the next one vs hardonk (no brainer in my mind) and he wins that one theyre going to put him in another one three or four ufcs down the road which easily lines him up for a title shot vs lesnar/mir.

kongo/lesnar would be epic, kongo/mir ehhh....

This is definitly going to be a fight which ends a career or at least brings very close to end. No way Randy will fight Brock let alone Fedor if he loses. Should be a great fight though. Both are great tacticians. Will be interesting to see what happens if the fight goes to the floor. If that happens I say Nog wins, standing, I got to give it to Randy.

Kongo aint Lesnar.

Big difference.

Saying kongo ain't lesnar is like saying kongo ain't mir, is like saying mir ain't lesnar, is like saying coutour ain't lesnar, is like say (insert fighter of choice here) ain't lesnar.

I can only reply with duh.
