After weeks of silence, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has reemerged this week in a very talkative mood. He appeared on Dana White's video blog and laughed with the UFC owner about his Newport Beach joyride. Now he is promoting UFC 87 at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN, which really amounts to him offering excuses for his behavior.
Again he claimed he had "delirium by energy drinks". I wonder if the UFC has contacted all their fighters and explained to them the dangers of energy drinks. If Dana White and the rest of the company truly believe they were the culprit in this mess, it would seem logical to stop this from happening to other fighters under UFC contract. Or maybe the UFC should terminate all energy drink sponsorships in order to send a message to the younger MMA fans that excessive consumption can lead to ramming your vehicle into things and trying to flee the scene.
As you can see in the picture above and here, Rampage endorses "Throwdown" energy drinks. In fact, there is even a flavor called "Rampage Punch". Now that he knows energy drinks cause delirium, he should probably end his relationship with "Throwdown". That would be the sensible thing to do. Somehow, I do not see any of this happening. The UFC will continue to take the money of any energy drink company that can afford to advertise with them. And Rampage will stand in front of "Throwdown" products and cash his check. The "Energy Drink Defense" is merely a ploy meant to get him out of trouble. We all are smart enough to know that much.
