On October 11 Affliction will hold its second pay-per-view titled, "Day of Reckoning". It was supposed to feature Andrei Arlovski vs Fedor Emelianenko, but instead the main event has been switched to feature Josh Barnett against Arlovski. The official word is Fedor was scratched from the event due to a hand injury, however, Rear Naked News learned this weekend that the injury was not the only reason Affliction kept him off the fight card. With word of arbitration meetings taking place between Randy Couture and the UFC, Affliction felt it was better to keep Fedor inactive in case Couture becomes a free agent in the near future. A loss by Fedor to Arlovski would have seriously hurt the sales of a future pay-per-view featuring Couture vs Fedor. Instead it looks like the earliest we will see a possible match-up between Fedor and Couture is in December.
With Fedor now officially off the card, it seems more likely that Affliction will make a big push to sign UFC veteran Tito Ortiz when he becomes a free agent later this week. A rumored bout between Ortiz and Renato "Babalu" Sobral has been talked about as a possible co-main event for the October 11th pay-per-view.
Another match-up that has been talked about is Vitor Belfort vs Matt Lindland. Expect the other bouts to include many of the fighters featured during the first PPV, including Tim Sylvia, Pedro Rizzo, Mike Pyle, and Fedor's brother Aleksander Elemianenko. The last bit of news is that rumors are swirling about a possible match-up between Vladimir Matyushenko and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
